Financing my mobility

Centrale Lille encourages international mobility and provides students with financial assistance, enabling them to plan their stay abroad with confidence. Students can apply for the three main support schemes managed by Centrale Lille, which are described below. Other schemes also exist, depending on the student’s situation.

 

Erasmus+ grant

The Erasmus+ grant is a subsidy financed by the European Commission which is aimed at students doing study periods or work placements abroad.

The eligibility criteria for this grant are as follows:

  • Do a mobility placement abroad in one of the member countries of the European Union as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Türkiye, North Macedonia, the United Kingdom, Serbia, and Switzerland
  • Do a mobility placement abroad lasting from 2 to 12 months.
  • Not be doing the mobility placement abroad during a gap year or a sabbatical year

Mermoz grant

The Mermoz grant is a subsidy based on social criteria funded by the Hauts-de-France Region which is aimed at students doing study periods or work placements abroad.

The eligibility criteria for this grant are as follows:

  • Have a family income quotient that is less than or equal to €30,000
  • Do a placement abroad of at least 4 weeks for studies or 12 weeks for internships
  • Not be receiving international mobility aid from another French region
  • Not be doing the placement abroad during a gap year or a sabbatical year
  • Students enrolled at more than one institution can only claim a grant from the institution where they are studying.
  • International students must have been resident in France for at least 2 years.
  • Not have already received the Mermoz grant

AMI grant

The AMI grant (International Mobility Aid) is a subsidy based on social criteria funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation.

The eligibility criteria for this grant are as follows:

  • Be a recipient of a social criteria-based grant (CROUS)
  • For internships, not be in receipt of any internship remuneration
  • Not be doing the mobility placement abroad during a gap year or a sabbatical year

UFA allowance

The UFA allowance is a subsidy financed by the French-German University. It provides funding for study periods or work placements (in companies or research laboratories) lasting from 2 to 12 months per academic year.

The eligibility criteria for this grant are as follows:

  • Follow an integrated curriculum supported by the UFA
  • Be duly registered with the UFA, and be in a mobility phase (compulsory study period or work placement in the partner country or third country)
  • Not be doing the traineeship abroad during a gap year or a sabbatical year

Other grants and mobility support programmes

There are also a number of schemes to complement the three grants mentioned above. These programmes may be run by different entities (French embassies abroad, foreign embassies in France, university networks, foreign government programmes, international programmes, etc.). You should find out more about these programmes and contact the Centrale Lille geographical coordinators.

Among the many schemes available, you will find the FITEC programme (Arfitec, Brafitec, Mexfitec) for Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, Fulbright for degree programmes in the United States, and more.
