Centrale Lille’s governing bodies
Centrale Lille is a public establishment of a scientific, cultural and professional nature, headed by a Director-General, assisted by a management team, and administered by a Board of Directors that is assisted by a Scientific Council and a Board of Studies.
Centrale Lille’s Director General, through decisions, the Board of Directors through its deliberations, the Scientific Council, the Board of Studies, the School Councils, the Committees and the Commissions through their opinions, contribute to the administration of the institution.

The Boards
The Board of Directors determines Centrale Lille’s general policy. It decides on the general organisation of studies, as well as on research, scientific and technical information, and international cooperation programmes. It votes on the budget, approves the accounts, and determines the distribution of posts allocated by the relevant ministers.
The Board of Directors comprises twenty-six members: 3 representatives of university professors and equivalent staff, 3 other research professors, teachers and equivalent staff, 3 representatives of engineering, administrative, technical and service staff, 3 representatives of students enrolled at Centrale Lille, 14 representatives of outside personalities.

The Board of Studies, chaired by the Director, is consulted on the direction and implementation of Centrale Lille’s training policy and on applications for accreditation of courses.
The Board of Studies is made up of 20 members, including 4 representatives of university professors and equivalent staff, 4 other research professors, teachers and equivalent staff, 2 representatives of engineering, administrative, technical and service staff, 8 student representatives and 2 outside personalities.
The Scientific Advisory Board, chaired by the Director, is consulted on the direction and implementation of Centrale Lille’s research policy, agreements with research bodies and the qualifications to be given to vacant or requested teaching-research and research posts.
The Scientific Advisory Board has 25 members, including 16 staff representatives, 3 representatives of registered doctoral students and 6 outside personalities.
Each in-house engineering school has a School Council made up of 8 staff representatives, 3 student representatives and 5 external figures. The Director of the internal school is appointed by the Director of Centrale Lille, after consulting the relevant School Board. This board has an advisory role covering all areas of activity developed by the school.

The committees
The Education Steering Committee has a consultative role covering all areas relating to education (education policy, issues discussed by the Board of Studies, etc.). The committee is chaired by the Director of Education and is made up of the administrative head of education, the heads of the in-house schools, and the heads of the teaching departments.
The Research Steering Committee has a consultative role covering all areas relating to research (research policy, scientific policy, issues discussed by the Scientific Advisory Board, etc.). The committee is chaired by the Director of Research, Development and Innovation and comprises the administrative head of the research area and the laboratory correspondents.
The Management Works Council is a consultative body responsible for examining collective issues relating to the organisation and operation of the establishment and is consulted on human resources management policy. The Director-General of Centrale Lille chairs this committee.
The Specialised Health, Safety and Working Conditions Committee (F3SCT) is a consultative body tasked with helping to protect the health and safety of employees at work, improving working conditions and ensuring compliance with the relevant legal provisions. The Director-General of Centrale Lille chairs this committee.

Commissions
It is consulted on individual decisions concerning engineers and technical and administrative research and training staff assigned to Centrale Lille. The Managing Director of Centrale Lille chairs this committee.
The Joint Consultative Commission responsible for the institution’s contract staff is qualified to deal with individual issues concerning Centrale Lille’s contract staff. The Managing Director of Centrale Lille chairs this committee.
